Purpose:
In addition to 3D printing shields for frontline workers, emergency responders, and essential workers, Project Global sews face masks for people where shields are not a practical personal protective device. However, sewing masks by hand was a cumbersome task as one mask took most members an entire day to create. We strived to engage older members of the community by requesting volunteers to help us sew these masks. We reached out and connected with a local church. Ladies of all ages kindly donated time, threads, and needles to sew over 300 masks for the Central Coast United Way! We also created cards for senior citizens in nursing homes and care centers to remind them they are not alone; as a community we are collectively praying for their health and well-being.
